Gianni at the front desk was so helpful upon arrival, giving us maps and information about the neighborhood, and offering suggestions on restaurants and tours. The hotel has a complimentary boat trip to Murano to visit a glass factory, and this was very nice - an interesting up-close look at glass-blowing, and then a tour of the glass shops with no pressure to buy whatsoever. Francesca at the front desk was also a gem, and everyone working at this hotel had a smile and greeted you with a "buongiorno" each day. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, with many choices available including a variety of pastries, coffee cakes, hard-boiled eggs and salads, meats and cheese, yogurt, fruits, juices and coffees/tea. It was a lovely display each morning, and the staff was very eager to please. The hotel was delightful, our room was quite large, and the location is unbeatable! As much as you may have heard that Venice is a maze of streets and one could easily become lost, we never had difficulty returning to our hotel since the many yellow signs pointing out FERROVIA provided the proper direction to the Grand Canal and Hotel Antiche Figure. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and have no qualms about recommending it to others. Also, we took a 2-hour walking tour through Viator called "Tour of the Real Hidden Venice" that was guided by Niko, who provided excellent commentary and stories from a native Venetian. We visited the areas of Cannaregio and the Jewish Ghetto, and this tour meets right in front of the hotel at 10:00am. Niko also provided recommendations for a few restaurants. I recommend this tour and you may also find it welcome since most of Venice was very crowded (mid-October) and this walking tour visited streets/squares that were so quiet and quaint, with what appeared to be more local residents than tourists.

Restaurant/places to eat in Hotel Antiche Figure

The location was perfect. I'm so happy I found something close to the train station as I was coming in with my Mother who uses a cane and so for the most part I was carrying the luggage. I'm thankful we only had to cross the one bridge, one of the largest but still just the one. I can't recommend a better location if you want to be close to transport; this includes the boat taxis as well and the gondolas. The closest grocery mart is a bit of a walk, only 5 minutes if you hustle. The room was excellent in terms of the bed and bedding being extremely comfortable and light, perfect for the hot weather. There was air conditioning that kept the air cool at night and when we came back to our room after a day out it was so refreshing to step inside. The room we had was on the second floor and our windows had no view but looked down into an alley, Which is fine, I didn't need a view from the room. (Not being passive aggressive I promise). And saying that, even though there was an alley the room was surprisingly sound proof and we had no disturbances during the night for our sleep. Everyone who worked here, at the desk, serving drinks, cleaning service were all kind and more than happy to help. Cleaning service was actually extremely kind. Some perspective on location: In the photo I share you can see the train station on the right: long gray building. On the left, the big green domed building is next to the hotel, which you can see to the right of it. Connected by the one large bridge which is made of stairs. FYI all of their bridges are stairs. I had no idea, I had never seen it before. It does make sense though, they'd be too steep otherwise. Listen, if this helps one person I'm happy.

Lobby or reception in Hotel Antiche Figure

The rooms were spacious enough, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathtub for a shower area is to be expected in quintessential Europe. The breakfast spread was more than ample--our septuagenarian mother, for whom this trip was a gift, was particularly happy with it. The heart of this atmospheric hotel, which is located across the Santa Lucia Station and along the Grand Canal in the Santa Croce district, is its warm, friendly, always ready to help, hardworking staff, led by Francesca, Gianni, and Davide at the reception desk. A coin-operated laundromat, with several washing machines and tumblers or driers, is just 100 meters or so away from the hotel.

Breakfast in Hotel Antiche Figure

After much consideration over where to stay on our first visit to Venice, and since we were arriving by train, I decided to choose the Hotel Antiche Figura. I'll pat myself on the back, because the hotel turned out to be perfect- for location, beauty, amenities, and especially for the best staff ever! The hotel is located across the Grand Canal from Venezia Santa Lucia station. We stepped out into the madness that is Venice, and only had to navigate the crowds (Tourism is back, folks! Especially on Easter Week!), avoid the wanna-be persistent porters (but they COULD be very helpful IF luggage help is needed) and make the short walk to our lodging. The hotel is intimate, rooms are beautifully decorated, and the lobby bar is convenient. The canal-side seating outside is perfect for people watching- morning with coffee and evening with a Spritz. There is a gondola stand right outside (and kudos to our final night gondolier, Antonio, for the best wrap up to our Venice trip!) The staff is exemplary! Friendly and helpful from arrival to departure. They set up water taxis for us, gave excellent tips for everything from vaporetto route directions to Covid testing. The breakfast buffet is good, their hard working kitchen staff works overtime to make you happy. And it seems every staff member has coffee skills, at all times of day or night. Great cocktails as well. They offer a free trip via water taxi to Murano for a glass blowing demonstration. Very nice, and no, you don't have to purchase anything (especially the incredible, but pricey, artworks. FYI: the end of the tour has the necklaces and other affordable items). You will have to take a vaporetto (local water bus) to get back to Venice proper. The staff and management at Hotel Antiche Figura is top notch! Gianni, Francesca, Alessandro and Antonio and the entire crew made our stay a perfect one! Grazie mille! If we ever get to return to this gorgeous city, we would definitely stay here again.

Restaurant/places to eat in Hotel Antiche Figure

It is some years since I have stayed over in Venice, since when travelling to Italy - which I now do regularly, to visit my wife's family - I almost always use a favourite hotel in Padua. But for various reasons I needed on this occasion to find a centrally located albergo for one night's stopover in La Serenissima. The Antiche Figure was in every respect a delightful discovery and I enjoyed my night's stopover there very much. The staff were notably friendly and welcoming (not always the case in Venice), and the hotel itself seemed small but perfectly formed. I enjoyed my comfortable room, furnished in pleasing Italian antique style (which offered a side view from its window onto the Grand Canal), and the breakfast buffet offered this solo traveller good choice. The location, opposite the train station and 10 minutes' walk from Piazzale Roma, is hard to beat.

River view in Hotel Antiche Figure

We truly loved our stay at Hotel Antiche Figure. We had a wonderful room overlooking the canal and all the activity on both sides. From the moment we checked in we felt genuine warmth and hospitality from everyone on staff - front desk, bar, breakfast servers and the lovely lady who cleaned our room. This place exudes authenticity and the best of Venetian hospitality. We left Venice by train from Santa Lucia station and were so happy that it is only a five minute walk across the bridge from the hotel. We highly recommend this lovely place.

Lounge or bar in Hotel Antiche Figure

This hotel is conviniently located so that you do not need to carry your luggage far from city parking garage and if you are coming by train it is right opposite the main train station. At the same time you are in the canal with gondola station in front of the hotel. The hotel is perfectly clean decorated in venetian style. It also has room with balcony overlooking the canal. The size of the room is enough for the couple to enjoy their stay. It is easy to reach other sights in the old town.

Lounge or bar in Hotel Antiche Figure

Wonderful friendly staff, they tell and suggest everything. They try and give their best. This is visible, since the hotel is small, but the level is maintained. The room is small, but enough for 2 adults and one child. The location is excellent, near the railway station, bus station, river transport. The price includes a free tour of the glass factory - a wonderful experience. Breakfasts are organized well and in full, even in such a small area.

Lounge or bar in Hotel Antiche Figure

We weren't sure that we were going to get an actual breakfast without paying a bonus amount, but it turned out that they had a nice cold buffet every morning. The only negative about that was that the buffet was virtually unchanged from day to day!

View (from property/room) in Hotel Antiche Figure

Charming traditional venetian hotel, perfectly located on the canal across from the train station where you can catch the Vaparetto to any part of the city. The rooms are cheerful and nicely appointed, with a modern bath, and the breakfast is beyond compare—so large it extends to from the dining room to the small bar. The bar opens up to cafe tables outside where you can have a drink and watch the world go by. But the best part of Antiche Figure is its wonderful staff, who genuinely treat you like you’re house guests. They’re helpful, good natured, friendly and a delight to share your stay with.
